About Us

The Gewerbe-Service-Portal.NRW  is a state portal established through state funds by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitisation and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in cooperation with the municipal umbrella organisations and the Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Since 1 July 2018, the Gewerbe-Service-Portal.NRW has made it possible to register businesses “from the comfort of your own home”. Since March 2019, businesses can also be re-registered and deregistered purely by electronic means.

Founders and entrepreneurs in North Rhine-Westphalia may submit their business registrations to the regulatory authorities seamlessly via electronic means through the websites of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Gewerbe-Service-Portal.NRW.

There are plans to develop the Gewerbe-Service-Portal.NRW into a comprehensive business service platform to enable businesses to complete more and more administrative processes from home.

The portal allows procedures to be completed through menu-based input screens with completion wizards to assist applicants. Additional support in filling out forms is provided by “Guido,” a self-learning chatbot who accumulates knowledge and passes this on to users of the portal.

To make the procedures even easier to complete, the Gewerbe-Service-Portal.NRW is linked to the Servicekonto .NRW which may also be used as an optional feature – although currently only when activated by natural persons. When registering with the Servicekonto.NRW, personal data does not have to be re-entered for each new procedure, as it is transferred to the input screen automatically from the Servicekonto.NRW. In addition, you may view your personal application history for all procedures initiated through the Servicekonto.NRW. Soon, partnerships and corporations will also be able to register through an organisation account providing the same functions.

As part of the Gewerbe-Service-Portal.NRW, the single point of contact offers support for cross-border services and the recognition of professional qualifications.
